Inheritance...

There is a little package you are carrying. It contains a lot of things your parents and other caregivers left with you when you were small.
Attitudes.
Reactions.
Ways of seeing the world.
Biases.
Personality.
Strengths.
Weaknesses.

Many of the items in this package are very hard to change. Others are easier to change.

Some people never open up the package; they just keep living under its influence and go about their business blissfully ignorant of why they are a success or a failure in life.

Other people reject the package, determined not to make the same mistakes their parents did; after all, why make someone else's mistakes when there are so many mistakes one can make and call one's own?

But if you really want to control your life and manage your own self-development, you have to open the package. You have to review what is inside. You have to acknowledge what's inside. You have to chose what you want to hold dear and what you want to change.

It's your package, and only you can decide…if you so choose.
